Thanks JohnnyBoy and Eric for the awesome alternatives. I totally agree that having a free trial is critical because there are so many options out there with different features that some may like and others don’t

I am using for backup http://www.dmailer.com/dmailer-backup.html , i don’t say that mozy isn’t good but for all customers important is to let them use it for free at least for one time before they buy so they are aware of what they buy.
That’s why Dmailer caught my eye because is free and is also offering online storage up to 3gb for free accounts.

Nice article. You should check out backazon.com. Easy, Simple, US Based support and versioned backups so you can upload multiple backups and download them right away.

Hani, I am actually using Backupmax too. I think its an excellent product. I think at this point in the game, most service providers are going to promise you the same core features. Backupmax, however, focuses a great deal of the security aspect. I did some very extensive research before I finally chose a provider. Mozy had some issues with encryption of files on their servers (not very secure) and carbonite does not appear to have a great fan base. They have a great addition to their software that allows you to locate your laptop if it gets stolen and better yet, allows for you to log into your account and shred or encrypt files that you have backed up to prevent anyone from getting into your personal files.
The install is really simple, the interface is not cluttered and designed specifically for *home users*.
I would recommend it to anyone over Mozy and Carbonite.

Interesting read. I found another service that seems to do all these do and also helps recover lost computers. BackUPMAX Online Backup is a new service I think you should have a look at.

Thanks Peter! http://www.backupreview.info/ is a great site! It is nice to see other people’s experiences and options for creating backups.

The important thing is to take action and set up your backup system today before a hard drive disaster strikes you. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way and I would hate for it to happen to anyone else.
